  • Maori Community Engagement Contractor 

    Young Aotearoa Survey 

    Help ensure the voices of young people and whanau across Aotearoa are heard 

    The Young Aotearoa Survey is seeking Community Engagement Contractors to support a major nationwide study of young people's wellbeing and experiences. 

    We are committed to building a diverse workforce that reflects the communities we engage with and strongly encourage applications from Maori. 

    While contractors will engage with households from all backgrounds, we recognise the value of te ao Maori, cultural understanding, community connections, and diverse lived experiences in helping create positive engagement experiences for participants. 

    About the role 

    Contractors will: 

    • Visit randomly selected households within assigned areas 

    • Introduce the survey and explain its purpose 

    • Build trust and rapport with young people, caregivers and whanau 

    • Support eligible participants to take part 

    • Record information using project systems 

    • Follow project protocols, ethical requirements and safeguarding procedures 

    We're looking for people who: 

    • Are confident engaging with people face-to-face 

    • Can build trust and rapport quickly 

    • Communicate respectfully and professionally 

    • Are organised and self-managing 

    • Can work independently within project requirements 

    • Value diversity, inclusion and cultural understanding 

    • Hold a current driver's license and have reliable transport

    • Can commit 30+ hours per week
